Brief History of New Jersey NENA

1982 - NENA National is founded as a non-profit organization.


1994 - New Jersey NENA receives its charter as a chapter. Paul Einreinhofer is elected as first chapter President.


1995 - First Chapter conference held April 23-24 at the Woodbridge Sheraton. The fee was $50. Paul Einreinhofer was the chapter president and conference Chair.


1996 - Chapter conference held April 22-23 at the Woodbridge Sheraton. The fee was $50. Paul Einreinhofer was the chapter president and conference Chair. This was the first NJ NENA conference to have a vendor exhibit area. The Keynote speaker was Alexander Waugh, Chair of the NJ 9-1-1 Commission and Deputy Attorney General.


1997 - Chapter conference held April 7 - 8 at the Woodbridge Sheraton. The fee was $50. Paul Einreinhofer was the conference chair. Forrest Eichmann was the chapter president. The Keynote speaker was State Sen. Jack Collins.


1998 - Chapter conference held April 27-28 at the Woodbridge Sheraton. The fee was $50. Paul Einreinhofer was the conference Chair. Forrest Eichmann was the Chapter President. The keynote speaker was William Munn of NENA National.


1999 - Chapter conference held April 26 - 27 at the Woodbridge Sheraton. The fee was $75. Paul Einreinhofer was the conference chair. Robert Anderson was the chapter president. The Keynote speaker was Michael Amarosa.


2000 - Due to a dramatic rate increase and hotel expansion taking place at the time scheduled for the conference, no conference was held this year. Robert Anderson was the Chapter President.


2001 - Chapter conference held April 9 - 10 at the Hanover Marriott. The fee was $100. Paul Einreinhofer was the conference chair. Edward Bruder was the chapter president. The Keynote speaker was John Melcher from NENA National.

2002 - Chapter conference held April 15 - 16 at the Hanover Marriott. The fee was $100. Paul Einreinhofer was the conference chair. Edward Bruder was the chapter president.


2003 - Chapter conference held April 7 - 8 at the Hanover Marriott. The fee was $100. Paul Einreinhofer was the conference chair and chapter president.


2004 - Chapter conference held April 19 - 20 at the Headquarters Plaza Hotel in Morristown. The fee was $100. Bonnie Hueg was the conference chair and chapter president. NY State Assemblyman David Koon was the Keynote Speaker.


2005 - Chapter conference held April 11 - 12 at the Headquarters Plaza Hotel in Morristown. The fee was $125. Bonnie Hueg was the conference chair and chapter president. NENA National ADA Chair Toni Dunne was the Keynote Speaker.


2006 - Chapter conference held April 4 - 5 at the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City. The fee was $125. Bonnie Hueg was the conference chair and Michael Grennier was chapter president. The Keynote Speaker was Mike Beeman of FEMA.


2007 - Chapter conference held April 17 - 18 at the Tropicana Hotel in Atlantic City. The fee was $125. Bonnie Hueg was the conference chair and Anthony Kozlowski was chapter president.


2008 - Chapter conference held March 5 - 6 at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel in Atlantic City. The fee was $125. Gareth Williams was the conference chair and Anthony Kozlowski was chapter president.


2009 - Chapter conference held April 23 - 24 at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel in Atlantic City. Conference chair was Gareth Williams, chapter president was Ray Kenny. Keynote Speaker was NENA CEO Brian Fontes.


2010 - Chapter conference held April 20 - 21 at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel in Atlantic City. Conference chair was Gareth Williams, chapter president was Ray Kenny. The keynote speaker was Randolph Mantooth, from TV's "Emergency".


2011 - Chapter conference held April 20 - 21 at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel in Atlantic City. Fee was $200. Pre-conference workshop "Policy and Procedures - Design & Construction" by Al McNally on April 19. Conference chair was Gareth Williams, chapter president was Ray Kenny. Keynote speaker was Alfredo Fuentes, Ret. Captain, FDNY.


2012 - Chapter Conference was held April 11 - 12 at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel in Atlantic City. Pre-conference workshop was held on April 10. Fee was $200 for the full conference. Conference chair was Gareth Williams, chapter president was Ray Strilec. Keynote Speaker was E. Steven Emanuel, State of New Jersey CIO and head of OIT.


2013 - Chapter Conference held April 3 - 4 at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel in Atlantic City. Pre-conference workshop "Handling Active Shooter Calls", presented by APC on Tuesday, April 2. Fee was $200 for full conference. Gareth Williams was the conference chair and chapter president. Keynote Speaker was Edward Dickson, Director, New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness.


2014 - Chapter Conference held April 23 - 24 at the Trump Taj Mahal Hotel in Atlantic City. Pre-conference workshops "Quality Assurance - Plan - Do - Check - Act!", presented by, then Second Vice-President, Al McNally and "Achieving Accreditation for the Communication Center", presented by the Rodgers Group, on Tuesday, April 22. Fee was $200 for full conference. Monica Gavio served as chapter president and Gareth Williams was the conference chair. Keynote Speaker was Retired Sergeant, John Casper, formerly of the Bergenfield Police Department. He shared a personal story of triumph and survival entitled "Give In... Give Up...or Give It Your All!".


2015 - For 2015 the conference was moved to Harrah's Resort and Casino in Atlantic City. Pre-conference workshops held on Monday April 13 "Dealing With Post Traumatic Stress for Dispatchers" and "What every 911 Coordinator needs to know". Jack Faenza serving as chapter president and Gareth Williams as conference chair. The conference held on April 14 and 15, Keynote speaker was Janine Paul who presented "Verbal Judo Tactical Communications for the Contact Professional".


2016 - Returning to Harrah's Resort Hotel and Casino, the annual conference held on April 6 and 7 with a pre-conference workshop day on April 5. The morning session was "Self Awareness", presented by Maria Grande. The afternoon session was "Emotional Intelligence" by Jennifer Hibbs. Keynote speaker for the conference was Mike Thompson from Priority Dispatch, who presented "Bad Moon Rising in Dispatch". Chapter President, Albert J. McNally was assisted by conference chair Gareth Williams.
