We are preparing for the 2025 NJ NENA Conference and Trade Show!

NJ NENA is accepting session proposals for the 2025 NJ NENA Conference and Trade Show taking place at Harrah’s Casino and Resort in Atlantic City in the “Waterfront Conference Center” from November 10-12, 2025. 

Does your agency have a best practice or have you handled an unusual call? Are you a vendor and would like to present on an issue or technology that will impact the delivery of 911 services? We would love to hear from you.

Presenting a session at NJ NENA is an excellent opportunity to share your knowledge and experience with an audience of 9-1-1 professionals eager to gain and share information. It is also your chance to give back to the profession and help inspire, inform, and educate attendees on a variety of important issues.

To ensure your submission received due consideration, please ensure that:

  1. Your proposal is issue-focused, not product-focused:
  2. Title of your session
  3. Your word presentation description must contain a precise objective;
  4. Provide accurate contact information, including phone numbers, email address and mailing address.
  5. Provide the names of any co-presenters with your submission.

Call for papers must be submitted by September 1, 2025. You will be notified by October 1, 2025 if your presentation has been approved. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Judy Hawkins at njnena001@gmail.com.

Obituary of Albert J. McNally

Past Chapter President, Albert J. McNally, Jr. passed away at Chilton Memorial Hospital on May 15, 2024 following a brief illness. He was 56. Born in Hackensack, he lived in Little Ferry and Chatham before moving to Parsippany in 1992. Al served for 12 years as a dispatcher with the Hackensack Police Department and was instrumental in the development and implementation of MICCOM, Northern New Jersey Mobile Intensive Care Communications Services where he served as Manager for more than 20 years.

Al’s career included roles as an EMT with the Hackensack Fire Department and as an EMS Supervisor for Jersey City Medical Center EMS. He also volunteered with the Hackensack Volunteer Ambulance and the Little Ferry First Aid Squad. He also served as an EMT Instructor and Coordinator for Chilton Hospital, and as the Director of the Passaic County EMS Academy.

Al was an active member of the State of New Jersey EMS Communications Sub Committee, Assistant EMS Coordinator for Bergen County OEM, and a member of both the Passaic County OEM and LEPC. He was involved with NJ-NENA, APCO, and the New Jersey Public Safety Accreditation Coalition, and instructed courses for the National Emergency Communications Institute and served as Chapter President of NJ-NENA, 2015 – 2016. His dedication and leadership in emergency services have left a lasting impact. Al was also an animal lover who often volunteered as a transport rescue driver bringing at risk animals to safer environments.

Al was predeceased by his father Albert J. McNally, Sr., and two brothers Charles and Matthew. He is survived by his wife Jacqueline McNally, his daughter Kelly of Oakmont, PA, his mother Holly McNally-Kupatt of Hopatcong and his sister Christine McNally of Little Ferry. He is also survived by his three brothers in law along with many loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday May 21, 2024 from 4-8 pm at the S. J. Priola Parsippany Funeral Service, 60 N. Beverwyck Rd. Lake Hiawatha, NJ 07034. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11am in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter, 194 Rt 10 West, East Hanover, 07936 or the One Step Closer Animal Rescue 155 Sparta Rd., Andover, NJ 07821, in his memory, would be appreciated.

2023 Bonnie Hueg Memorial Conference Scholarship

The New Jersey Chapter of the NENA offers scholarships to current professionals who might not otherwise be able to attend the NJ NENA Annual Conference. Awards are based on the appropriateness of the educational opportunity related to the applicant’s job, contributions of the applicant to his/her community and to NJ NENA. Scholarships will be awarded to cover the cost of attending the NJ NENA Annual Conference, November 13 – 15, as well as 2 nights in the Conference Hotel. Scholarship applicants MUST be current NENA members.

Bonnie Hueg was a strong proponent of training and training opportunities so it it appropriate that this chance to attend our conference, at no cost, have her name attached to it.

NJ NENA is accepting session proposals for the 2021 NJ NENA Conference and Trade Show taking place at Harrah’s Casino and Resort in Atlantic City in the “Waterfront Conference Center” from November 15 – 17, 2021. If you would like to re-submit your request that was selected for the 2020 Conference, please just send me the name of the Session name and the Speakers name so that I can make sure I already have all the information I need to add it to the proposals.

Apply Now for ENP Scholarships!

An ENP scholarship opportunity is now available to current NENA members who meet the eligibility requirements for ENP Certification and plan to sit for the exam by January 2021. Five ENP scholarships will be awarded (one per membership region). Each scholarship recipient will receive complimentary registration to take the ENP exam during the Summer 2020, Fall 2020, or Winter 2021 examination periods. Candidates must complete and submit the online application by Friday, March 6. Scholarship winners will be notified by Friday, March 27.

2019 New Jersey NENA Conference and Trade Show

When:  Monday, April 15, 2019 – Wednesday, April 17, 2019

The New Jersey Chapter of the National Emergency Number Association is New Jersey’s premier conference on 911 and emergency response. The conference will once again be at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City.

We are offering a discount for registrants. All NENA members will receive a $50 discount at time of registration. Register soon as this conference will fill up fast.

The pre-conference is “Preventing Telecommunicator Tunnel Vision” 

In this course, participants identify and discuss common problem areas that Telecommunicators experience in the performance of their duties. Students will learn tips and tools that help identify and correct problems to ensure you and your team members succeed. whether it’s in-the-moment issues like freezing up when CAD doesn’t work or when addresses do not validate, or systemic issues such as failure to follow protocols or errors resulting from inflexible QA questions, you’ll get the training resources you need to get (and keep) your call takers performing at their very best.

Conference Agenda: We will update the sessions as they are added. Sessions, times and Speakers have a possibility of changing.
